Today was the toughest day for me to stomach in a long time, whether it be here in Iran or at home in the US. My uncle came by to pick me, my father, and my cousin Dorsa up to go out and visit some of the historical sites here in Shiraz that we had not yet seen. Instead of going to see some historical sites, my uncle decided to take us to the grave sites of my aunt, Nozy, and my grandfather who died nine years ago on my birthday. My cousin (and her brother for that matter) unfortunately lost their mother about two years ago due to a stroke. I knew we were going to visit these sites at some point, but the idea was that the kids would not be around when we went, as my father and I did not want to upset them. So we went anyways, and left Dorsa in the car. My uncle told her we were going to see some ancient mosque, or something along those lines. To me, it was utter BS, especially coming from the mouth of someone who is as religious as he is. To say that I am angry right now is a true understatement. The thing is that my cousin is not stupid, I know she knew what was up because she's obviously been to the graveyard. My aunt is buried in front of my grandfather, and my grandfather is buried to the right of his father, my great grandfather. I've posted some pictures below for you to see. I am told that I am an exact replica of my grandfather (just taller) both in looks and mannerisms. I am glad I've finally been able to pay my respects to both of these individuals, however my anger and sorrow is geared toward the fact that my uncle outright lied to my cousin. I hope you all are doing well and I'll likely put up my next post after tomorrow, as tomorrow is the start of the new year. Eid et oon Mobarak, or Happy New Year in Farsi.

This is my aunt, Nozy. She passed away at a very young age due to a stroke. May she rest in peace.

This is my grandfather, a man I truly admired. I am glad I finally had the chance to pay my respects to him. May he rest in peace as well.
Below is a different view of his burial site, which also shows my great grandfather's burial site. Finally, I've included a photo I took of my grandfather's photo which is at his burial site. I'm told I look a lot like him, I'll let you decide.
